Moroccan Court

This past Saturday I went to the Met to see the New Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, and Later South Asia which reopened in November after extensive renovation.  It was beautiful!

The Moroccan Court was especially impressive. The video below takes you through the creation of the Court.  Wow.

The Damascus Room was utterly amazing as well.  This video shows the removal and reinstallation of the reception area within a Syrian home from the Ottoman Period.

Definitely a worthwhile visit!

I absolutely love Islamic design....the geometric precision and vivid use of color draws me in again and again. The majority of my pics from the Mideast are of the architecture and use of design in every day life. Will have to make it into NYC and check out the renovations. Thank you for blogging.
