a tiny tiny house
So adorable! I've always gravitated towards small spaces, but I don't know, this is impressively tiny.

Buckminster Fuller (my new favorite guy)
"Something hit me very hard once, thinking about what one little man could do. Think of the Queen Mary -- the whole ship goes by and then comes the rudder. And there's a tiny thing at the edge of the rudder called a trim tab.
It's a miniature rudder. Just moving the little trim tab builds a low pressure that pulls the rudder around. Takes almost no effort at all. So I said that the little individual can be a trim tab. Society thinks it's going right by you, that it's left you altogether. But if you're doing dynamic things mentally, the fact is that you can just put your foot out like that and the whole big ship of state is going to go.
So I said, call me Trimtab."

Japanese
I really love these Japanese flashcards!

bonus: a couple age old shots from my trip to Okinawa, Japan
Japan is such a beautiful country and culture. I ache for the people there. Technology has made the world feel much smaller,. Ages ago, we might not have even known anything happened, but with world news, modern travel, and cross-continent blogging relationships, these far away places have become more like neighbors, and it is so heartbreaking to see your neighbors suffer like this.
Take care, my friends. Our thoughts are with you. Heiwa. Heian.

We rest here while we can but we hear the ocean calling in our dreams,
And we know by the morning, the wind will fill our sail to test the seams.
The calm is on the water and part of us would linger by the shore,
For ships are safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for.

bummed
A bunch of things have me super stressed and rather bummed out these last couple weeks. Namely, quitting my job and having nothing lined up except bills, bills, billls.
So, today, I am gathering together a few things that have made me cheerful this morning...
(SO much to be happy about. It is definitely time for me to stop whining about jobs.)

Keep walking, though there’s no place to get to.
Don’t try to see through the distance. That’s not for human beings.
Move within, but don’t move the way fear makes you move.
Today, like every other day, we wake up empty and frightened.
Don’t open the door to the study and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of way to kneel and kiss the ground.

Have a lucky weekend!
"I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it."
[Thomas Jefferson]
I'm off to Atlantic City for the weekend, so I'm gonna need some luck myself.

The weather is warm, and the sun is out. This song just feels right for today.

These felted alphabet balls from Jack's Beanstalk are so cute, don't you think? I'm going to have to try my hand at these someday.
